SUMMER WEBSURFING

I'm sick. Not even in a metaphorical sense either. While this lame virus passes, I have been spending 10-14 hours a day exploring the depths of the internet. It's way more exciting than lame ass cable tv for sure. Anyways here are some things worth checking out that have made me happy.

NPR, in their infinite awesomeness, has decided to stream a list of 100 'essential' Folk Alley songs compiled by Kent State's radio station WKSU. Great for an afternoon of lounging, working, studying etc. Click Woody or here to bask in your own summer of love.

Daniel Eatock is a Designer/Artist who does things like make videos of himself balancing on two legs of a chair, dancing along with car alarms, and other goofy/awesome stuff. After graduate school he interned at the Walker Arts Center in Minneapolis, and they invited him back to update everyone on what he's been up to since. The lecture is fairly rapid-fire in reviewing works and briefly talking about them, and I highly recommend taking an hour to check it out. Oh, and PS, skip to 11:30 if you (assumedly) don't want to hear the WAC's announcements for the month. His website is www.eatock.com

Someone already posted the Lakai Footwear intro to their video Fully Flared, I unfortunately forget who. I think it was Greg. Anyways, they released a 'behind the scenes' video called The Final Flare awhile ago and now it's on youtube. Besides being pretty crazy to see the explosions in real time, the entire video actually has a narrative structure worth following.

Also, the Epicly Later'd behind the scenes, with Spike Jonze interview.

AND AND AND. Remember that invisible skateboards thing? I know you've seen it. How bout an invisible cameraman? Every skaters dream surely. Without further babble, a skit that did not make it into Fully Flared.

Robjn Taylor and the Crapneto gang are a hilarious bunch of snowboarding filmmaking Canadians. I grew up on their goofy videos, as odd as that sounds. So it's a treat when Robjn Taylor, the goofy dude who comes up with a lot of the Crapneto material, does his annual entry into the Whistler/Vancouver 72 hour filmmakers showdown. This year " The Blue Balloon Café," but the things he's done in the past merit a looksie too. Ta da. Enjoy.
