One thing you should know about me is that I love sea mammals.
FAMILYFAMILYTREE BLOG PROJECT 2008-2010
.......................................
This blog existed from October 2008 until December 2009. While it lasted, it was a place for friends to share, create, and have fun. FamilyFamilyTree has since moved on to other things. Now, this site exists as a tomb.

HOT AND BOTHERED

Sean ate a Habanero pepper for my final photo assignment entitled "Flavors". Sean's flavor was spicy. The rest of the series will follow soon enough. (click to make the photo larger and hi-res).

BRYAN SCHNELLE
Just saw this on FecalFace, Bryan Schnelle's work with ski masks that, as he says, are a "sarcastic acceptance of the fear, hopelessness, and emptiness of daily life in our rapidly crumbling society." Firstly, I really like this stuff. An example:

Secondly, it reminded me of something I had done quickly and sloppily based on extremely similar ideas, though not nearly as well thought out. Example:

I never know whether I should explore/return to a topic when I see similar work, or abandon an idea completely. Hmmm.

MFA Thesis Exhibition
December 4-December 21, 2008
Tisch Gallery
Opening Reception: Thursday, December 4, 2008
Artists' Talks: Thursday, December 4, 5:00 pm and Thursday, December 11, 6pm
This exhibition is the first in an ongoing series of MFA thesis exhibitions shown annually at the Tufts University Art Gallery as part of the joint graduate degree program of Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
EUGENE SCOTT FINNEY
"For my Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition, I will present sculptural works constructed from excavated and antique building materials. The focus of the exhibition will be the two sculptures, Boat and Dwelling, both constructed to human scale and intended for actual use after the duration of the exhibition."

DANIEL PHILLIPS
"The first room of the exhibit will display videos, both on monitors and projected, showing the transformation of my studio over the past year, as well as other collaborative projects involving the use of scavenged materials to create objects and transform spaces. Thousands of animated photographs show the process of creating, destroying, and restoring as essential to the value of this work. Salvaged paint, wood, paper, metal, and various other construction materials are appropriated both for their function and aesthetic value, informing a desperate and playful search for meaningful imagery.
The second room in the gallery will be a working studio, around which an elevated platform seven feet off the ground affords viewers a privileged look down into the workspace. This studio within the gallery will function as an ongoing process-based installation for the entire course of the show, serving as an environment for individuals to collaborate, experiment, and transform the gallery space beyond its normal confines."

6 OR 7 POPES

Officially, my new favorite thing is an online comic that takes welcome liberties in documenting one of history's most respected offices.

HYPOTHESIS
FROM MOM:
Hi Hon,
Inside your inner ear are hair cells that are naturally pulled downward by gravity. When your head position changes, the hair cells move and that tells your brain where you are in space. Your equilibrium gets disturbed when your eyes and the hair cells "disagree". Therefore, you are always going to get dizzy in a spinning chair!!!
